2024 Distinguished Service Award
Dr. Anne Kuhn-Hines
Dr. Anne Kuhn-Hines, a Research Physical Scientist with the US Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Research and Development, Atlantic Coastal Environmental Sciences Division, has been awarded the 2024 Distinguished Service Award by the North American Chapter of the International Association for Landscape Ecology (IALE-NA) at their annual meeting in Oklahoma City, April 1-5th. The award for Distinguished Service recognizes individuals who have contributed exceptionally to IALE-NA. Exceptional service represents a contribution to IALE-NA in terms of time, energy, and dedication that advances the mission of IALE-NA extraordinarily and thus deserves special recognition.
Dr. Anne Kuhn-Hines has a long service history with IALE-NA. She has been an instrumental member of the Foreign Scholar Travel Award (FSTA) Committee since 2013 and has served as the FSTA committees chair or co-chair for the past 5 years and recently stayed on as co-chair to ensure a smooth transition to the new chair. As a member of the FSTA committee, Anne has reviewed numerous applications and has awarded 55 recipients from 25 countries to attend the annual meeting of IALE-NA. As chair of the FSTA committee, Anne was responsible for organizing the annual silent book auction, soliciting book and software donations from publishers, companies, and members which generated between $700-$1000 in recent years. In addition, Anne was the local co-host of the 2012 US-IALE annual meeting in Newport, Rhode Island and played an important role in planning and organizing the meeting.
